6. ledna je svátek Tří králů, také nazývaný Svátek Zjevení Páně. Tři králové — mudrci dorazili k nově narozenému Ježíši se zpožděním. Přišli se mu jako králi všech poklonit a
přinesli mu dary.
V tento den Češi obvykle vyhazují vánoční stromeček a na dveře domů jsou svěcenou křídou psána písmena K+M+B a číslo nového roku. Tato písmena neznamenají jména Tří králů, tedy Kašpar, Melichar a Baltazar, ale „Kristus žehnej tomuto domu" (latinsky: Christus mansionem benedicat).
1.—14. ledna 2010 se koná „Tříkrálová sbírka". V ulicích chodí koledníci s pokladničkami a výtěžek pomůže nemocným, handicapovaným, seniorům, matkám s dětmi v tísni a dalším potřebným.
We Three Kings are Coming to You...
6 January is the holiday of Three Kings, also called the Day of Epiphany. Three Kings — Wise Men arrived to the newly born Jesus late. They came to bow to him as the King of All and they brought presents to him.
On this day, Czechs usually throw away the Christmas tree, and letters K+M+B with the number of the new year are written on the front doors with a blessed chalk. These letters do not mean the names of the Kings, i.e. Caspar, Melchior and Balthasar, but „Christ bless this house" (in Latin: Christus mansionem benedicat).
1 to 14 January 2010, the „Three Kings’ Charity” takes place. Carollers with cashboxes walk in the streets and the proceeds will help the sick, handicapped, old, mothers with children in need, and other needy ones.
V českém kalendáři najdete u každého dne jedno jméno nebo dvě, případně jiný zvláštní svátek. Každý den slaví někdo jmeniny (svátek). Původně byl každý den zasvěcený svatému nebo
blahoslavenému z katolického kalendáře, ale časem byly zrušeny duplicity, některá jména vyškrtnuta, některá dodána a některá přesunuta.

existující jméno, tedy i takové, které není v kalendáři.
